ARCHER Hermes

Overview

Hermes is a desktop file transfer client that allows users to transfer data files between the user’s computer, an SRB, or a server supporting GridFTP. In the ARCHER context it is used primarily to upload data onto an SRB for management with XDMS.

Hermes is distributed as a single Java archive file (.jar). This file can be run directly by users to launch the application.

Hermes supports four transfer protocols: SRB, GSIFTP, FTP and SFTP. It supports MyProxy, Shibboleth and GSI authentication.

Development

Hermes was developed by the James Cook University e-Research Centre for the ARCHER project. The source code is released as open source under the GPL, and is available at SourceForge.
